Rilo Kiley - Under The Blacklight Preorder + 7″

Published by ryantheduke under MP3s, News

As you’ll see above, there is a category called “Steals”, which is just where we’ll store the good deals we find on music on the internet. I wanted “Deals”, but brock won out, and I think both are terrible. Anyone have a suggestion? This section of the site is just a taste of what you’ll see on Sixtywatt.

(edit: The News category won out after all.)

Jenny Lewis

I love Jenny Lewis, as I’m sure you all do. While I prefer her folky stuff with those religious twins, Rilo Kiley will do for my fix.

I Just saw on Insound that you can Preorder the new cd and get a bonus 7″ featuring one album track and one b-side. Buy it here.

Will Oldham, Kanye West & OiNK Invites

Published by ryantheduke under Videos, News

We are a bit slow in our first weekend.. brockmasterflex is moving all his shit from one side of Montreal to the other, and I’m just generally drained and hungover. But I have saved some energy for you folks (…if we actually have any readers yet)

I’m sure a lot of you know who Will Oldham is, but for those that don’t, he is a man of many aliases. These days he mainly goes by Bonnie “Prince” Billy. He has a voice filled with emotion and nuance and I would highly recommend to those unfamiliar and interested with him to pick up “I See A Darkness” and go from there. Here is a video of a cover song called “Same Love Made Me Laugh Made Me Cry”. It really showcases his beautiful voice and weird movements.  Check it out here.

And for something very different, Zack Galifianakis & Will Oldham have teamed up and formed a great acting pair for Kanye West’s new video “You Can’t Tell Me Nothin’”. Check it out at Kanye’s site.

I’m sure many of you are aware of the great torrent site, oink.cd (Formerly oink.me.uk). Well, it’s an invite only tracker and I’ve been building up a few of them, so the first 5 people to post their email addresses in the comments will get them (and I’ll delete the posts immediately after).

Update: The invites are gone. There will be more posted here as time goes by, so please keep checking with us.

Don’t Make Me A Target

Published by ryantheduke under Shows, MP3s

- Live on KCRW
SpoonTo start a post about , I feel obligated to mention that they are Austin’s finest indie rockers. Never have I seen so much focus on where a band is from. Anyway, I don’t really have a point here, so I will get to the music.

The band has taken a little heat for “You Got Yr Cherry Bomb” sounding like some other tune by a band from Nashville that no one has ever heard of. Count me in the “who gives a fuck” camp.. It’s the folk tradition and since Bob Dylan made it cool, everyone is realizing they can swing it, too.

Here is a great set from KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic. To download all of our links, just right-click and “save link/target as”.

  1. Intro
  2. Rhythm & Soul
  3. Don’t Make Me A Target
  4. The Underdog
  5. They Never Got You
  6. Interview
  7. Don’t You Evah
  8. The Beast & Dragon Adored
  9. You Got Your Cherry Bomb
  10. Black Like Me
  11. Outro

Enjoy!

Welcome to trendwhore.ca

Published by ryantheduke under News

In the beginning, it was nothing more than a simple idea. “Hey, let’s start a blog and take over the world” said a young brockmasterflex.

ryantheduke nodded.

Then after months of laziness they finally got around to their idea. We present to you, trendwhore.ca - the blog with no real focus. We’re just gonna talk about anything and everything that we love about music: concert video/audio, vinyl, traveling, side projects, leaks.. You know, all that shit you love too.

Certainly planned on writing more for an opening post, but I’ve got a killer toothache, and that’s just terrible, innit?
