2007 In Review : Best Albums [brockmasterflex]
I’ve said it again and again that I would never let the blog slip, but the holidays kept me ever so busy. I’ve been drinking with friends, sleeping in, talking to my girlfriend who’s visiting Newfoundland and watching the entire run of Arrested Development. I’m so sorry, but you’ll be happy to know that we are back in full swing with concert tickets in hand. Unlike every other blog in the known blogosphere we haven’t done our year end “best of” shitlist, so what follows is my top 9 (a very magic number) albums of 2007. Included are a choice cut from each album, to get them please……..
Unlike Pitchfork I can’t blather on deligating the actual physical value each album has on music and culture, I can however rate albums that I’ve listened to (over and over again) and have had a impact on my life. Lets get on with it.
| #9 Band of Horses : Cease To Begin
Unlike most people I listened to Cease To Begin before listening to the entirety of Everything All the Time. Track for track Cease to Begin is a stronger album than Everything All the Time but lacks a standout track like “Funeral”. I will however give them #1 Beards of 2007. |
|
| #8 Bon Iver : For Emma, Forever Ago Hands down diamond in the rough of 2007. A golden review from P4K catapulted Bon Iver into blog-stardom. |
| #7 Sunset Rubdown : Random Spirit Lover SoftSillyMusic from our forum said it best
|
| #6 Spoon : Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga This album is a perfect mix of styles with the common Spoon-sound denominator that keeps everything on the level. |
| #4 LCD Soundsystem : Sound of Silver My only problem with this album is the title track, otherwise a perfect album. |
| #3 Arcade Fire : Neon Bible The difficult second album? Not many albums can live up to the hype machine, Neon Bible went above and beyond. |
| #2 Handsome Furs : Plague Park This album gives so much, from so little. It breaks the laws of thermodynamics. |

I really, really, really like the little do-dads that you use to play the MP3’s with. It’s so classy. However, I’m not sold on The Weakerthans.
enough for me to see handsome furs and sunset rubdown in the same list. the rest was predictible
(not bon iver though)
Just a heads up, but the Band of Horses debut was called Everything All the Time, not Funeral.
Fixed that, I should really re-read this stuff before posting it.
Maybe I was listening to Arcade Fire, maybe I was high.
Who nows!?
god, i hope that was intentional, brock
Arrested Development is utterly devine. Really nice site you have here.
